Olamide Speaks on Ongoing Wizkid–Davido–Burna Boy Comparisons, Calls for Maturity Among Fans

Nigerian music powerhouse Olamide has weighed in on one of Afrobeats’ most persistent debates — the constant comparison among the genre’s biggest global exports: Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

In recent years, social media has become a battleground where fans fiercely argue about who deserves the top spot, often clashing over awards, streaming numbers, influence, and legacy. These debates frequently spiral into insults and tribal rivalry, overshadowing the artists’ achievements and the unity within the industry.

Speaking on the issue, Olamide offered a grounded and thoughtful perspective. He acknowledged the passion of fans but emphasized that greatness is not something that can be reduced to rankings, labels, or online arguments. According to him, terms like A-list and B-list are ultimately superficial and do little to define an artist’s true impact.

He urged supporters to celebrate the artists they love without belittling others, noting that the success of one musician does not diminish the value of another. “There’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone,” he said, calling for a broader appreciation of talent across the ecosystem.

Olamide went on to highlight the mindsets of the three artists at the center of these debates, stressing that Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are too focused, disciplined, and mentally mature to be swayed by online fan wars. Their rise to global stardom, he noted, came through hard work and vision — qualities that don’t rely on public rankings or validation.

“Burna, David, and Wiz aren’t narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone else’s opinion,” he remarked, underscoring how their calmness and sense of purpose have played major roles in their longevity and international dominance.

Olamide’s comments echo a growing sentiment within the Nigerian music industry: that unity, mutual respect, and collective celebration are far more valuable than rivalry. As Afrobeats continues to make historic strides worldwide, many believe it’s time for fans to embrace the diversity of talent rather than fuel unhealthy competition.
