Fourteen people were taken to hospitals after a series of medical emergencies during The Chainsmokers’ concert in San Jose, California, United States of America on Friday night, September 4.

The electronic music duo was performing at Discovery Meadow when multiple concertgoers began requiring medical attention at about 8:22 p.m., according to the San Jose Fire Department.

The department requested additional ambulances and advanced life-support units as the number of patients increased. A total of 14 ambulances responded to the scene, with 14 people eventually transported to hospitals.

Police told local media that some of the medical emergencies involved suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues.

Authorities have not disclosed the conditions of those hospitalised. The concert began at 5 p.m., while officials said the emergency response concluded at about 10:34 p.m. Police officers also assisted with traffic control during the response. No arrests were reported in connection with the incidents.

The San Jose hospitalisations came less than a month after another Chainsmokers performance in Palm Springs where nine people were injured after bottles were allegedly thrown into a crowd. Seven people were taken to hospital following that incident. The Chainsmokers have not publicly commented on the San Jose hospitalisations.
