Award-winning football star Mohamed Salah has revealed in a recent social media post when he plans to depart Liverpool FC.

In a stunning announcement that has shaken the football world, Salah confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025/2026 season.

The Egyptian forward, popularly known as the “King,” still had a contract running until 2027 after signing an extension last year. However, he has now reached an agreement with the club to bring his remarkable nine-year stay at Anfield to an early close this summer.

On Tuesday evening, Salah shared an emotional video message with fans, expressing deep gratitude for a journey he described as beyond anything he had imagined.

“I want to begin by saying I never expected this club, this city, and its people to become such a huge part of my life,” he said.

“Liverpool is more than just a football club — it’s passion, history, and spirit. It’s something you can’t fully explain to anyone who isn’t part of it.”

Looking back on his time at the club, Salah reflected on the unity that defined both the Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot eras.

“We achieved the biggest honors together and stood strong through some of the toughest moments,” he added.

Salah leaves as one of the most successful and prolific players in Liverpool’s history. Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, the 33-year-old has recorded:

  • 255 goals, making him the third-highest scorer in the club’s history
  • Two Premier League titles (2019/20 and 2024/25)
  • One UEFA Champions League title (2019)
  • Four Premier League Golden Boots, matching the all-time record held by Thierry Henry

Despite facing a challenging spell this season, including a brief period on the bench under Slot, Salah has remained central to the team.

His early announcement is widely seen as a sign of openness, giving both fans and the club time to prepare for a future without one of their greatest modern legends.

While speculation continues about a possible big-money move to Saudi Arabia or a switch to MLS, Salah insists his immediate priority is finishing the season strongly.

“Leaving is never easy,” he said. “You gave me the best years of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will forever be home to me and my family. Thank you for everything. Because of you, I will never walk alone.”

Liverpool later released a statement confirming plans to honor Salah’s legacy with a special tribute at Anfield after the club’s final home game of the season.
