Spotify reveal the top Afrobeats artists and songs of 2025
Spotify has released its highly anticipated ranking of the top Afrobeats artists and songs worldwide for 2025, once again underscoring the genre’s meteoric global rise.
At the very top of the list is Nigerian powerhouse Burna Boy, who continues to reign as Afrobeats’ most dominant force. Known for his electrifying performances and genre-bending sound, Burna Boy’s consistency has kept him ahead of the pack as Afrobeats cements itself on the world stage.
Coming in second is Rema, whose crossover appeal and high-profile collaborations have made him a global superstar, particularly in North America and Europe. Wizkid holds third place, reaffirming his long-standing influence and role in shaping the modern Afrobeats sound.
In fourth place is Asake, the street-inspired hitmaker whose energetic tracks and signature style have fueled his rapid rise. Closing out the top five is Ayra Starr, the only female artist in the top tier, celebrated for her unique voice and boundary-pushing artistry that resonates with a global audience.
Spotify noted that these names not only dominate streaming numbers but also serve as cultural ambassadors for Afrobeats, selling out arenas across Europe and the Americas while making waves on the Billboard charts.
Alongside the artist rankings, Spotify also revealed the most streamed Afrobeats songs of the year. Ayra Starr claimed the number one spot with her smash-hit collaboration Santa alongside Rauw Alejandro and Rvssian, a track that blended Afrobeats with Latin and Caribbean influences to wide acclaim.
Taking second place was MOLIY’s viral anthem “Shake It To The Max (FLY),” which became a global dance challenge and took over TikTok. Rema’s “Calm Down (Remix)” featuring Selena Gomez secured third place, maintaining its long-standing popularity years after its release.
At number four is “We Pray” by Coldplay and Burna Boy, a cross-continental collaboration that further pushed Afrobeats into the global mainstream. Completing the top five is Libianca’s soulful hit “People,” a track that resonated deeply with listeners worldwide for its raw emotion and relatability.
The rankings highlight how Afrobeats has transformed from a regional sound into a dominant global genre. Its artists are not only leading festivals across Africa but also headlining in Europe, North America, and Asia, while the songs continue to break streaming records.
With Burna Boy, Rema, Wizkid, Asake, and Ayra Starr spearheading the movement, and viral tracks like Santa and Shake It To The Max (FLY) taking over global charts, Afrobeats’ momentum shows no signs of slowing down in 2025.
