William Saliba Signs New Long-Term Deal with Arsenal

Arsenal Football Club have confirmed that William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract, committing his future to the Gunners.

The club announced the news on its official website on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, revealing that the French international has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal. Saliba’s previous contract had been due to expire in 2027, but this extension further secures the defender’s role as a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s project at the Emirates.

Since joining Arsenal from Saint-Étienne in July 2019, Saliba has steadily grown into one of the most dependable players in the squad. Now 24, he has already made 140 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners. After spending time on loan in France, he finally made his Arsenal debut in the opening game of the 2022/23 season, a 2–0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. His immediate impact set the tone for his rise into one of the Premier League’s standout defenders.

Saliba on His Future at Arsenal

Speaking after signing the new deal, Saliba expressed his excitement about continuing his journey in North London:

“The boss is one of the best coaches in the world, and he has helped me so much, along with his staff. I’m so happy to have them with me. I’m only 24, and I know I still haven’t reached my peak. There’s a lot I can still improve, a lot more to give to this team. With the coach and staff, I believe I can become one of the best defenders in the world and win trophies with Arsenal.”

Defensive Rock at the Heart of Arsenal’s Success

Saliba’s influence on the team has been immense. Arsenal have conceded the fewest goals in each of the past two Premier League seasons, a defensive solidity in which the Frenchman has played a crucial role. His consistent performances have earned him recognition across Europe, including being named in the PFA Team of the Year for three consecutive seasons.

In 2024, his reputation reached even greater heights when he was selected for The Best FIFA Men’s XI, further cementing his place among the world’s elite central defenders.

By extending his contract, Arsenal have not only secured one of their most valuable assets but also underlined their ambition to continue building a squad capable of challenging for major honours in both domestic and European competitions.
