Nigerians have expressed their opinions on social media in response to the recent increase in passport fees.

On Wednesday night, August 21, the Nigeria Immigration Service announced a revision in passport printing fees. According to the statement, the cost of a 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity, which was previously Thirty-Five Thousand Naira (N35,000.00), has been raised to Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00).

Meanwhile, the fee for a 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity, which was Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00), has now increased to One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00).

The statement also noted that these fee changes do not apply to Nigerians residing abroad, where the passport fees remain unchanged.

This announcement has prompted a wave of reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many expressing their concerns and frustrations over the increased costs.
