Over 80 arrested during anti-ICE protest in New York (video)

More than 80 people were arrested on Tuesday, June 10, during a large protest in Lower Manhattan, New York, against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. The demonstration, which began near Foley Square and extended around Federal Plaza, drew thousands of participants and led to several confrontations between protesters and law enforcement.
The protest formed in response to ongoing immigration enforcement actions across New York City and the country. As night fell, tensions rose, and several incidents occurred, including arrests and scuffles. NYPD officers made arrests throughout the area, primarily for disorderly conduct, according to police sources. Additional charges may follow as authorities finalize reports.
Several individuals were detained after refusing to disperse, while others allegedly threw objects at officers. Some confrontations were captured on video, including scenes where protesters attempted to block ICE vehicles and breached barricades. Pepper spray was used during a few altercations, and footage showed some demonstrators being physically restrained during arrests.
Throughout the evening, demonstrators carried signs reading “Abolish ICE” and chanted against immigration raids. Crowds grew increasingly vocal as NYPD declared a Level Three Mobilization — a protocol used to deploy additional officers for large-scale incidents.
Local leaders addressed the protesters earlier in the day. Brooklyn Councilwoman Shahana Hanif criticized Mayor Eric Adams’ approach to federal immigration enforcement, saying, “Mayor Adams has made it clear he does not care about working class people. He is collaborating with Trump to use tactics that bring out the military.”
Public Advocate Jumaane Williams also spoke, expressing concern over ICE operations and calling for greater protections for immigrant communities. “We’re in a scary situation,” Williams said. “Mayor Adams is nowhere to be found in a city full of immigrants.”
