João Félix Set for Saudi Move as Chelsea and Al Nassr Reach Agreement

The chapter between João Félix and Chelsea Football Club may be coming to a swift end, as reports confirm that the Blues have reached a transfer agreement with Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr. The latest development, shared by renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano on Sunday, July 27, 2025, indicates that both clubs have finalized terms—and Félix has given the green light to make the switch to the Saudi Pro League.

The Portuguese forward, once hailed as a generational talent, is now set to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr, where he’ll be coached by Jorge Jesus. According to sources, Al Nassr’s offer is valued between €45–50 million, with the club eager to bolster its attacking options with a high-profile European name.

Prior to the Saudi deal, Benfica, Félix’s boyhood club, had shown strong interest in bringing him back to Lisbon. Their approach included an offer of €20–25 million for partial economic rights, along with performance-based sell-on clauses. Félix himself had publicly expressed his desire to return home and rediscover the form and comfort he once enjoyed at the Estádio da Luz.

However, Chelsea appear to have prioritized the more financially attractive offer from Al Nassr, opting for a full transfer instead of entering into a complex shared-rights deal with Benfica.

Félix’s career in Europe has been marred by inconsistency. After a record-breaking move to Atlético Madrid, he struggled to cement a role under Diego Simeone. A loan move to Chelsea in early 2023 raised hopes, but his time at Stamford Bridge produced just one Premier League goal in 12 appearances. Despite that, Chelsea completed a permanent signing in the 2024 summer transfer window, betting on his long-term potential.

Yet that gamble didn’t pay off. Félix failed to break into the first team under new management and was eventually loaned out to AC Milan during the January 2025 transfer window. Although he showed flashes of brilliance, his overall output—2 goals and 1 assist in 15 Serie A appearances—fell short of expectations.

The move to Al Nassr represents both a fresh start and a significant shift in direction for the 25-year-old forward. With the Saudi Pro League continuing its aggressive recruitment of European talent, Félix joins a growing list of players seeking new opportunities in the Middle East.

As Chelsea offloads another underperforming asset, attention will now turn to how they reinvest the funds—and whether Félix can reignite his career alongside his footballing idol, Ronaldo, in Saudi Arabia.
