Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has officially confirmed the release date and time of his first song of 2026, sharing the news in a powerful and emotional letter addressed to fans on Substack.

Following a period of deep introspection after his rapid rise to global recognition, the “Kweku The Traveller” hitmaker revealed that his new single—alongside its accompanying music video—will be released this Friday at exactly 5:57 AM, a moment he fondly described as “Top of the Morning.”

More than a simple announcement, the letter read like a personal manifesto. Black Sherif used the opportunity to reflect on the intense journey that shaped both his music and his identity, revisiting the sleepless nights, setbacks, and emotional scars that defined his early years in the industry.

He recalled being told at just 17 years old that his voice “wasn’t good enough,” a moment that could have ended his dreams. Instead, it became fuel. Years later, that same voice would go on to sell out back-to-back shows in London and command the attention of over 20,000 fans in a packed stadium.

“Nothing was handed to us,” Sherif wrote.
“We worked late nights into early mornings… It took time to realize these stab wounds had to happen for us to understand how great we were becoming.”

The statement also peeled back the curtain on his private life, offering fans a rare glimpse into moments away from the spotlight. Sherif spoke of quiet mornings spent on the balcony of his first property, reflecting on how far he had come, and late-night drives taken simply “to feel human again” amid the pressures of fame.

He paid tribute to his long-time collaborator Obala, recalling their humble beginnings—working on music through cracked phone screens long before recognition, cameras, and global stages followed.

Black Sherif also addressed the legal battles and personal trials that have deeply influenced his sound and storytelling. He revealed the emotional impact of finally closing a long-running legal case—an experience that moved his mother to tears and tested his mental strength.

“No one in their right minds would still be here,” he admitted candidly, underscoring the resilience required to survive and remain at the top of the ever-evolving Afrobeats and global music scene.

Fortunately for fans, the wait for the next chapter of Black Sherif’s journey is almost over. With anticipation building rapidly, his first release of 2026—both song and video—will officially drop this Friday at 5:57 AM, marking the beginning of what promises to be a defining new era.

As the clock ticks closer to Top of the Morning, all eyes and ears are firmly fixed on Black Sherif.
