Nigerian music star Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has shared a deeply personal story about a moment that brought him to tears — a rare glimpse into the emotional struggles that often accompany life as an entertainer.

In a podcast episode released on Thursday, November 27, 2025, the award-winning singer opened up about the last time he cried, revealing a touching family moment that left a profound impact on him.

According to AG Baby, the emotional experience happened a few months earlier while he was walking down the street. He had received a video call showing his daughter, Deja, performing on stage for the very first time. Watching the milestone through a screen instead of being physically present stirred a wave of emotions — joy, pride, and sadness — all hitting him at once.

Adekunle Gold explained that the moment made him reflect deeply on the sacrifices that come with his profession. Balancing a demanding global music career with fatherhood is not always easy, and missing important milestones is one of the harsh realities artists rarely speak about.

He said the experience was so powerful that it directly inspired one of his recent songs, “My Love Is the Same,” a heartfelt record that celebrates family bonds, emotional connection, and unconditional love.

“When was the last time I cried? It was two or three months ago,” he revealed. “Deja was performing, and I wasn’t there, so they called me on video. It was her first performance. I just thought, ‘This is crazy.’ This is the price you pay when you’re building a career and still trying to be present for your family. I wished I was there… and I just started to cry.”

His honesty has sparked heartwarming reactions from fans across social media, with many praising him for his vulnerability and for shedding light on the emotional realities behind the glamour of fame. Admirers celebrated his openness about fatherhood, calling it a reminder that even superstars carry the same tender feelings as anyone else.
