The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially announced their 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled to take place in October 2025. Nigeria will open their qualifying campaign with a match against Lesotho on October 10 before returning home to face Benin on October 14.
Head coach Eric Chelle has carefully assembled a well-balanced squad, combining seasoned internationals with promising young talents, as the team sets its sights on securing early momentum in the qualification journey.
Goalkeepers
Between the sticks, Stanley Nwabali, Amas Obasogie, and Adebayo Adeleye have been selected to ensure stability and confidence in goal. Nwabali’s consistent form at international level makes him the frontrunner, while Obasogie and Adeleye provide depth and competition.
Defence
The defensive unit features a blend of strength, pace, and composure. Attack
Nigeria’s attacking options remain one of the most feared on the continent. The forward line includes Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Tolu Arokodare, Victor Osimhen, Terem Moffi, Cyriel Dessers, Samuel Chukwueze, Akor Adams, and Ola Olusegun. Star striker Osimhen headlines the attack, supported by the pace and trickery of Lookman, Chukwueze, and Simon.
A highlight of the squad is the maiden call-up of Akor Adams, who has earned his spot following a series of impressive performances at club level. His inclusion adds extra firepower and competition to an already stacked frontline.
