President Trump Reportedly Weighing Pardon for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Ahead of Sentencing

U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly giving serious consideration to granting a full presidential pardon to Grammy-winning rapper, producer, and business mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is set to be sentenced in October 2025 following his conviction on federal charges related to prostitution.

Sources familiar with the matter reveal that internal discussions surrounding a potential pardon have gained momentum in recent weeks, evolving from speculative chatter to what one insider described as an “actionable possibility.” The development comes in the wake of Combs’ partial conviction earlier this month in a high-profile federal case held in New York.

In the trial, the jury found the Bad Boy Records founder guilty of transporting individuals for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, a federal offense. However, he was acquitted of the more severe allegations, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy—charges that had drawn intense public and media scrutiny.

Combs has been in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September 2024. Despite several bail attempts—most recently a high-profile $50 million bond request—he has been repeatedly denied release pending sentencing. He is scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian on October 3, 2025, when his sentence will be handed down. Legal experts anticipate an immediate appeal from his legal team once sentencing is finalized.

Although the White House and Combs’ defense attorneys have not officially confirmed the existence of a pardon request, sources close to the situation suggest that associates and allies of Combs have been actively advocating for presidential clemency. However, reports indicate that his legal counsel has not directly engaged in lobbying efforts related to the pardon.

President Trump, known for granting controversial pardons during his first term, hinted in May at being open to reviewing Combs’ case. “I would certainly look at the facts if I think somebody was mistreated—whether they like me or don’t like me,” he said at the time, amid ongoing proceedings in the rapper’s trial.

Despite past public criticism of Trump by Combs—who notably endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 election—the two share a complex personal history. Both were prominent figures in New York’s elite social scene during the early 2000s, and Trump once referred to Combs as a “good friend” during a 2012 episode of The Apprentice.

If Trump proceeds with the pardon, it would be one of the most high-profile and politically charged clemency decisions of his presidency, likely to spark renewed debate over presidential pardon powers and the intersection of fame, influence, and justice in America.

The possible pardon comes at a politically complex time, as Trump grapples with mounting pressure from his MAGA base over the Department of Justice’s handling of sealed documents related to the late Jeffrey Epstein. Amid that controversy, the lead prosecutor in Combs’ trial, Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, was abruptly dismissed from her role at the Southern District of New York.

Adding to the public spectacle, fellow rapper and entrepreneur Curtis 50 Cent Jackson has publicly vowed to oppose any pardon efforts for Combs, further fueling debate around the high-profile case.

As speculation intensifies, legal analysts and political observers await further signals from Trump’s camp. Until a decision is signed and formalized, the status of a potential Diddy pardon remains uncertain.
