PSG Eyes Napoli's Victor Osimhen as Replacement for Kylian Mbappe
PSG Considers Napoli’s Osimhen to Replace Mbappe – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is reportedly eyeing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as a potential successor to Kylian Mbappe, who recently communicated his decision not to extend his contract beyond the current season, making Real Madrid the frontrunners for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Attention has swiftly shifted to identifying a replacement for Mbappe, with Osimhen emerging as a prominent candidate on PSG’s radar, as per reports from The Athletic. However, securing Osimhen’s services is anticipated to come at a considerable cost, with Napoli valuing the Nigerian star at around £130 million.
While Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked to Osimhen in the Premier League, PSG is now poised to leapfrog other suitors in the race for his signature. Osimhen himself disclosed last month that he has already made a decision regarding his future, and despite having a contract with Napoli until 2026, he is expected to depart this summer.
The 25-year-old joined Napoli in 2020 from Lille and played a pivotal role in their title-winning campaign last season, scoring 26 goals in 32 appearances.

However, Napoli’s fortunes have waned this season, currently sitting in ninth place in Serie A, 25 points behind league leaders Inter Milan. The departure of coach Luciano Spalletti last summer and a mid-season coaching change to Walter Mazzarri have contributed to a challenging campaign.
Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli hit a rough patch earlier in the season when he expressed displeasure over being substituted during a match against Bologna.
The situation escalated when the club posted a TikTok video on social media, mocking Osimhen’s reaction to missing a penalty and drawing unwarranted comparisons.
Despite Napoli’s subsequent apology, Osimhen’s future at the club remains uncertain, and PSG’s reported interest could pave the way for his departure.
Having recently represented Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles reached the final but lost to hosts Ivory Coast, Osimhen’s return to Italy could mark the conclusion of his stint with Napoli if PSG materializes their interest.
