Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has cautioned upcoming musicians against relocating to Lagos in pursuit of fame, calling the city “the worst place for a young artist to grow.”

The Abuja-bred artiste shared his perspective in a post on X (formerly Twitter), arguing that Lagos’ highly competitive entertainment industry often fosters an environment filled with “greedy, selfish, and self-centered packaged beasts.”

According to him, the city’s music scene is saturated with individuals more concerned with personal gain than genuine collaboration or artistic growth.

Reflecting on his own career journey, Odumodublvck credited his upbringing and early career development in Abuja as a key factor in his success.

He explained that the calmer and less cutthroat atmosphere of the capital city gave him the freedom and creative space to evolve at his own pace without being caught in what he describes as the manipulative tendencies of Lagos’ music circle.

“That’s why it was easy to run through the industry as the machine wey I be. I too real for una,” he wrote, implying that distancing himself from the Lagos music bubble allowed him to maintain his authenticity and unique style while making his mark on the Nigerian music scene.
