The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially confirmed that Augustine Eguavoen will continue serving as the interim head coach of the Super Eagles. The announcement comes just days ahead of the Super Eagles’ crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Libya, scheduled for October 2025.

This decision follows Eguavoen’s recent leadership of the team, during which the Super Eagles secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin Republic and held Rwanda to a scoreless draw. His performance in these matches evidently influenced the NFF’s choice to extend his tenure as interim coach.

Eguavoen will be supported by a technical crew that includes Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa, and Tomaz Zorec.

In addition to their responsibilities with the senior team, the coaching staff will also oversee the Super Eagles B team’s qualification campaign for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The continuity of this experienced technical team reflects the NFF’s confidence in their ability to guide Nigeria through these critical upcoming fixtures.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also announced the appointment of Coach Justin Madugu as the interim head coach of the Senior Women’s National Team, the Super Falcons. Madugu takes over from Randy Waldrum, who recently stepped down from the position due to family reasons.

Waldrum, who served as the Super Falcons’ head coach for four years, leaves behind a legacy of significant achievements. During his tenure, he notably guided the team to the Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, showcasing the team’s growth on the global stage.

Additionally, he led the Super Falcons to secure qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, a milestone the team had not reached since 2008.

Madugu’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Super Falcons, as they prepare for their upcoming international engagements under his leadership.
