Newcastle reportedly accepts Liverpool's bid for Alexander Isak

The long-running transfer saga involving Newcastle United and star striker Alexander Isak has finally reached its conclusion, with the Swedish international now set to make a blockbuster move to Liverpool Football Club.
Since the beginning of the 2025 summer transfer window, Isak had made his stance clear, insisting he would not play for Newcastle again. His frustration reportedly stemmed from what he described as broken promises by the Magpies regarding his future at St. James’ Park.
After weeks of speculation, negotiations, and rejected offers, Liverpool have stepped in with a record-breaking bid of £130 million to secure his signature — a fee that now stands as the most expensive transfer in Premier League history.
This massive deal surpasses the £115 million Chelsea paid Brighton & Hove Albion for Ecuadorian midfielder Moisés Caicedo during the 2023 summer transfer window.
Liverpool initially tabled a £110 million package with add-ons for Isak at the start of August, but Newcastle stood firm, unwilling to sanction the move until specific conditions were satisfied. Eventually, the Reds’ persistence paid off, and they have now landed their priority target.
Isak is expected to sign a six-year contract that will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2031, strengthening Liverpool’s attacking options as they continue to rebuild under their new project. His arrival is not only a statement of intent but also a significant shift in power in the Premier League transfer market.
For Newcastle, Isak’s departure has triggered immediate reinforcements. The club is set to finalize the signing of German forward Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in a deal worth up to £69 million.
However, their summer rebuild is far from over, as they are also in urgent need of another striker to replace veteran forward Callum Wilson, who left as a free agent at the end of last season.
So far, Newcastle’s attempts to bolster their attacking line have hit roadblocks. They have seen multiple offers turned down for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Wolves’ Jorgen Strand-Larsen, but the Magpies are expected to remain active in the market as they look to reshape their squad following Isak’s record-breaking departure.
