Liverpool Set to Sign Two Newcastle Stars in £175m Double Deal Following Zubimendi

Liverpool is currently the only Premier League team that has yet to make a signing this transfer window, but that is set to change with Martin Zubimendi’s arrival imminent.

Reports from Spain indicate that the Reds are prepared to activate Zubimendi’s £51 million release clause, and negotiations over personal terms are expected to proceed smoothly for the Real Sociedad midfielder.

He is poised to become the first signing of the Arne Slot era at Anfield, but he certainly won’t be the last, as Liverpool is planning an impressive double swoop for Newcastle stars.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool is still interested in signing Anthony Gordon as they aim to bolster their attacking options with a new winger before the transfer window closes.

Prior to the PSR deadline that required Newcastle to offload some players, Liverpool had reached an agreement for Gordon to join for £75 million, with Joe Gomez moving to the Magpies for £45 million. Medicals for both players were even scheduled, but the deal fell through when Newcastle opted to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh instead.

However, reports indicate that Anthony Gordon, valued at approximately £75 million by Newcastle, could still make a move to Liverpool in the coming weeks. The former Everton player has been a lifelong Liverpool supporter and is eager to join the club, as has been consistently reported.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool is willing to meet Newcastle’s £75 million asking price as the transfer window approaches its close.

Additionally, according to GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool is also interested in pursuing a deal for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes following the signing of Zubimendi.

The Merseyside club has made inquiries regarding the Brazilian international, and while he is currently content at St James’ Park, his agents have not ruled out the possibility of “late window drama.”

Guimaraes’ future was uncertain earlier this summer when several top clubs considered activating his £100 million release clause, which has since expired.

Reports indicate that it would likely take a minimum of £100 million for Newcastle to even consider parting ways with Bruno Guimaraes. This comes after manager Eddie Howe welcomed Guimaraes into the club’s leadership group.

Bruno expressed his pride in captaining Newcastle during their recent pre-season tour of Japan and is now part of the inner circle of leaders at St James’ Park. “I’m very happy, and the gaffer has given me a big responsibility to be in the leadership group,” he told BBC Sport.

“I want to be a leader and help the club in many ways. I also want to support this guy [Howe] because I am grateful to him. I want to deliver something special for them.”

This strong commitment from Guimaraes to Newcastle is noteworthy, but it will be intriguing to see if Liverpool makes a move for him after finalizing the deal for Zubimendi, which seems increasingly likely.
