Defender Todibo Set for Medical with West Ham

Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo is scheduled to undergo a medical with West Ham United on Friday as the club seeks to secure his signature ahead of Juventus.

West Ham has reportedly agreed to an initial season-long loan deal for the 24-year-old, which includes an option to buy for €40 million (£34.22 million) in 2025.

While Juventus had been the frontrunners for Todibo’s signing, they have encountered difficulties in reaching an agreement with Nice.

Although a move to London Stadium is not yet finalized, it would represent a significant achievement for West Ham to sign Todibo, especially considering Juventus can offer Champions League football.

Earlier this summer, Manchester United expressed interest in acquiring Todibo but were prevented from doing so by UEFA due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s involvement with Nice, which conflicted with their associated party transaction rules.

Todibo began his career in the Toulouse academy before joining Barcelona in 2019. After loan spells at Schalke and Benfica, he made a permanent move to Nice in 2021.

West Ham has been proactive in the transfer market this summer, with technical director Tim Steidten eager to reshape the squad following David Moyes’ departure. Since the appointment of new manager Julen Lopetegui as Moyes’ successor, the club has invested over £100 million in new signings.

Their recent acquisitions include Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville from Leeds, German striker Niclas Füllkrug from Borussia Dortmund, midfielder Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras, defender Max Kilman from Wolves, and Argentine midfielder Guido Rodríguez.
