The Katsina State Hisbah Board has destroyed more than 120 cartons of seized alcoholic drinks in Funtua as part of an ongoing crackdown on activities deemed contrary to Islamic teachings and public morality.

The destruction exercise carried out on Thursday, November 13, 2025 was led by the Commander of the Hisbah Board in Dandume Local Government Area, D.C. Bashir Lawal Balarabe, who was joined by officials from the Funtua zone.

The team also received the State Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, C.G. Sheikh Malam Aminu Usman (Abu-Ammar), PhD, who visited the area to oversee the enforcement activity.

According to officials, the confiscated alcohol was intercepted during routine operations aimed at curbing consumption, distribution, and trafficking of intoxicants considered unlawful under Islamic law.

Hisbah authorities maintained that the action was necessary to tackle what they described as rising moral decadence within the region.

During the event, several Islamic scholars delivered stern admonitions on the dangers of alcohol consumption, stressing that intoxicants remain forbidden in Islam and remain a source of societal destruction.

Speaking after the destruction exercise, the Commander-General, Sheikh Abu-Ammar, highlighted the board’s continued fight against alcohol-related activities since the Hisbah was re-established by the Katsina State governor, Dikko Radda.

He described the governor’s commitment to strengthening the institution as commendable and timely, especially in addressing challenges affecting the moral fabric of communities across the state.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Hisbah Board from the Funtua zone, as well as prominent Islamic scholars from different parts of the region.
