Authorities in Washington state say they have discovered human remains believed to belong to Travis Caleb Decker, the man accused of murdering his three young daughters earlier this year.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that the remains were located in a remote wooded area south of Leavenworth. While official identification is still pending, investigators say preliminary findings point to Decker.

Decker, an Army veteran with wilderness survival training, had been the subject of an intense manhunt since May. He was accused of suffocating his daughters — 5-year-old Olivia, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 9-year-old Paityn whose bodies were found near an abandoned campsite in the Washington Cascades on June 2.

Police discovered the girls with plastic bags over their heads, alongside zip ties and other evidence linking Decker to the crime.

The children had been reported missing after Decker failed to return them to their mother following a court-mandated visitation. His abandoned truck was later found near Rock Island Campground, not far from where the girls’ bodies were discovered.

DNA collected from plastic bags and cable ties matched Decker’s profile, investigators said, confirming his direct involvement. Despite extensive searches involving drones, cadaver dogs, swift water teams, and federal authorities, Decker had evaded capture for months.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that the scene is being processed with assistance from the Washington State Patrol crime scene response team, and a DNA analysis will be conducted to formally confirm the remains.

Officials say they have notified the Decker family of the latest development in the investigation.
