How many games will Romeo Lavia miss for Chelsea?

Chelsea could be facing another setback as midfielder Roméo Lavia is expected to be sidelined for close to a month after picking up a quadriceps injury during the Blues’ UEFA Champions League clash against Qarabağ.

The Belgian midfielder’s latest injury comes as a major blow, especially considering that he had only just returned to action following a long recovery spell. Lavia was forced off the pitch within minutes of his appearance, leaving both fans and coaching staff anxious about his condition. According to early assessments from Chelsea’s medical department, the 20-year-old could be out for at least four weeks, which means he’ll miss several crucial fixtures across domestic and European competitions.

There is, however, a small relief for Chelsea supporters—the club confirmed that this new injury is unrelated to his past hamstring problem. Still, manager Enzo Maresca and his backroom staff are growing increasingly concerned about the recurring muscle injuries that have disrupted Lavia’s progress since his big-money move to Stamford Bridge in 2023, reportedly worth around £53 million.

Since joining the Blues, Lavia’s Chelsea career has been marred by repeated fitness issues, ranging from ankle and thigh problems to a hamstring tear that ruled him out for most of the previous campaign. Despite his undeniable skill and potential to become a cornerstone in Chelsea’s midfield, these persistent setbacks are beginning to raise questions about his long-term durability and role in Maresca’s evolving project.

Supporters will now be hoping for a positive recovery process, drawing parallels to Reece James, who also battled recurring injuries before making a successful return to full fitness. If all goes well, Lavia could make his comeback before the end of the 2025/26 season, giving Chelsea a much-needed boost in their pursuit of silverware.
