Five first-team players set to leave Manchester United

Manchester United is facing a major shake-up ahead of the 2025/26 season, as five high-profile players—Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho—have officially communicated their desire to leave the club.

The development marks a turbulent phase for the Red Devils, who are now preparing for significant changes to their squad dynamics.

According to reports, Manchester United have decided to delay the return of the five players to Carrington until later in July, granting them time to explore potential transfers and finalize their exits. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad is scheduled to begin reporting for pre-season training on Monday, July 7, 2025.

This breaking news was confirmed by renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official social media channels on Friday, July 4.

However, should transfer negotiations stall or fail to reach conclusions within the next few weeks, the players will still be expected to return to the club’s training ground, where they will have continued access to full medical and training facilities.

In a significant symbolic shift, Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha is set to inherit Manchester United’s iconic No. 10 shirt—previously worn by Rashford.

The decision was reportedly communicated in advance to Rashford’s representatives, suggesting that the club is preparing for life without the England international.

Marcus Rashford, who has long been a key figure at Manchester United, is attracting interest from several top clubs across Europe.

While there is speculation about a potential move to La Liga giants Barcelona—a club Rashford is reportedly keen to join—there are also rumors of interest from other Premier League teams. However, no official agreement has been announced by any party at this stage.

With multiple stars possibly heading for the exit door, Manchester United’s summer transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most pivotal in recent years, as the club looks to rebuild and reposition itself ahead of the new campaign.
