David Raya Reveals His Desire to Play in La Liga Before Retirement
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has revealed his ambition to play in Spain’s La Liga before bringing his professional football career to an end.
The Spanish international, widely recognised for his performances in the Premier League, disclosed his desire during an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca.
Speaking about the possibility of returning to his homeland, Raya said he would welcome the opportunity to experience Spanish football.
“I would love to try La Liga. For now, I am very happy here at Arsenal, but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league,” he said.
The 31-year-old further expressed his interest in representing a Spanish club in the future, describing La Liga as a highly competitive league. However, he made it clear that he remains happy at Arsenal and has no immediate plans to leave the North London club.
Raya joined Arsenal from Brentford in 2023 on an initial loan deal before completing a permanent transfer in 2024. His current contract with the Gunners runs until June 2028.
Although the goalkeeper did not mention a specific club he would like to join, his comments have fuelled speculation about a potential move to Spain later in his career. Real Madrid could attract attention in any future transfer discussion, particularly given Raya’s childhood support for the Spanish giants.
For now, Raya remains focused on his duties at Arsenal while keeping open the possibility of playing in his country’s top division before retirement.
