Cardi B Officially Announces Long-Awaited Sophomore Album, Am I the Drama?, Set for September Release

After years of anticipation and mounting fan pressure, Grammy-winning rap star Cardi B has finally confirmed the release date of her much-anticipated second studio album. Titled Am I the Drama?, the new project is scheduled to drop on September 19, 2025—marking her first full-length release since her groundbreaking debut, Invasion of Privacy, in April 2018.

The announcement comes after a seven-year wait during which the Bodak Yellow rapper consistently faced questions about when new music would arrive. Cardi made the news official on Monday, igniting excitement across social media and the global hip-hop community.

In a bold press statement accompanying the announcement, the project was described as a powerful evolution of Cardi’s artistry:

“Marking a bold evolution in her sound and storytelling, the project arrives after her record-breaking debut album Invasion of Privacy—not just aiming to top it, but showing how far she’s come and how much more she has to say.”

To further fuel the hype, limited-edition merchandise—including vinyl and CD versions of the album—is already available for pre-order on her official website.

Taking to Instagram, Cardi—real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar—shared the striking cover art for Am I the Drama?. The image shows her clad in a dramatic red dress with an architectural neckline, while two ominous crows circle around her. The aesthetic is dark, symbolic, and perfectly aligned with the album’s themes of rebirth, vengeance, and power.

Celebrities quickly flooded her comments with support. Shakira chimed in with “Counting the days!!!” while Taraji P. Henson shouted, “LET’S F**KIN GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLOOOOOOOO (sic)”.

The upcoming album includes previously released hits like the chart-topping 2020 anthem WAP featuring Megan Thee Stallion, the 2021 track Up, and her latest single Outside, which has been generating buzz in recent weeks.

Ahead of the official reveal, Cardi teased a major announcement with a moody, cinematic Instagram reel. In the video, she appears in a sleek black dress adorned with faux crows, reciting a poetic monologue that hints at the themes of the new album:

“Seven years and the time has come. Seven years of love, life, and loss. Seven years I gave them grace, but now, I give them hell. I learned power is not given, it’s taken. I’m shedding feathers and no more tears. I’m not back, I’m beyond. I’m not your villain, I’m your karma. The time is here. The time is now.”

With Am I the Drama?, Cardi B seems poised not just to make a return, but to redefine her presence in music with a project that blends fierce vulnerability with unapologetic dominance. The countdown to September 19 has officially begun.
