Barcelona Fans Face Setback as Lamine Yamal Sidelined Due to Injury
Barcelona supporters will have to endure the absence of their young star, Lamine Yamal, for at least the next two matches after the club confirmed he is currently dealing with a physical issue.
In an official statement released on the club’s website on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Barcelona provided an update on Yamal’s condition. The club revealed that the talented winger is experiencing discomfort in his pubic area, which has already ruled him out of training and will keep him out of action for the upcoming fixtures.
The statement read:
“Lamine Yamal is having trouble in the pubic area that prevented him from training today and means he will play no part in Sunday’s game with Valencia and will not be training with his teammates until the problem is resolved.”
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick also addressed the issue in his pre-match press conference ahead of the La Liga clash with Valencia, offering more insight into the situation and expressing frustration over how the player was managed during international duty with Spain.
“He won’t be available,” Flick confirmed. “He went off to play for Spain already in pain and did not train there either. They gave him painkillers just so he could play. Despite Spain holding a comfortable lead in both matches, he still played 73 and 79 minutes respectively. Between the games, he couldn’t train at all. That’s not how you take care of a young player. I’m very disappointed.”
As a result of the injury, Yamal will be unavailable for Barcelona’s upcoming La Liga match against Valencia and the crucial UEFA Champions League group-stage fixture against Newcastle United. His return will depend on how quickly he recovers and responds to treatment.
