Ademola Lookman Breaks Silence on Atalanta Transfer Drama, Hands In Formal Request

Amidst swirling speculation surrounding his future, Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has publicly addressed the ongoing transfer saga with Atalanta. In a heartfelt and strongly worded statement, the 26-year-old confirmed his desire to leave the Italian club during the 2025 summer transfer window, following reported interest from top clubs including Inter Milan.

Lookman began his message by expressing deep appreciation for his time at Atalanta, saying, “Over the past three years at Atalanta, I’ve given everything—not just on the pitch but as a person. I’ve worn the shirt with pride and represented Bergamo with heart and passion.”

The former Leicester and RB Leipzig attacker recalled fond memories of his stint at the club, especially the iconic 2024 Europa League victory in Dublin. “Celebrating with our fans that night is one of the proudest moments of my career,” he said.

However, the tone of the message quickly shifted as Lookman revealed internal conflicts and broken promises from the club’s management. Despite receiving a transfer offer he believes aligns with previous agreements, Lookman stated that Atalanta is now blocking the move “for reasons I do not understand.”

Frustrated by what he described as poor treatment and repeated unfulfilled assurances, Lookman announced that he has officially submitted a transfer request. “After many months of broken promises, I sadly feel I have no choice but to speak out. Enough is enough,” he declared.

The forward emphasized that throughout the ordeal, he has remained loyal and professional, choosing to protect the club’s image and maintain harmony within the team. “Even during extremely difficult moments behind the scenes, I always tried to put the club, fans, and team first,” he wrote.

Closing his statement, Lookman addressed the fans directly: “To the supporters—the heartbeat of this club—I’m sorry it has come to this. I hope you can understand that this is about standing up for what is fair and just. The bond we’ve created means so much to me. With love and gratitude, Ademola.”

As the summer transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on how Atalanta responds and whether Lookman gets the move he feels he has earned.
