Actress sues Disney for firing her from Star Wars series – On Tuesday, actress Gina Carano filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm and its parent company, The Walt Disney Co., over her 2021 dismissal from “The Mandalorian,” alleging that her termination was a result of expressing right-wing views on social media.

The federal court lawsuit, filed in California with assistance from X (formerly Twitter), claims Carano’s wrongful termination from the Disney+ streaming series was a consequence of her social media post drawing a parallel between the treatment of American conservatives and Jews in Nazi Germany.

The lawsuit begins with a statement asserting that Disney and Lucasfilm enforced a singular orthodoxy of thought, speech, or action, terminating Carano as swiftly as her character’s home planet, Alderaan, was destroyed in “Star Wars.”

Carano alleges her firing was a response to her voicing personal opinions against an “online bully mob” promoting extreme progressive ideology. Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet responded to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit seeks damages to be determined at trial and a court order for Carano to be recast in the show. Carano claims Lucasfilm damaged her future work prospects by making “maliciously false” statements about her.

Lucasfilm’s statement during her firing cited Carano’s social media posts as “abhorrent and unacceptable” for denigrating people based on cultural and religious identities. Carano is also accused of mocking pandemic mask-wearing, making false voter fraud allegations, and using a Star Wars reference in her social media bio that led to harassment.

According to Kilownacapnews Carano asserts that she participated in positive Zoom meetings with LGBTQ+ groups at Lucasfilm’s request but faced harassment over the issue, including demands for a public apology admitting to actions she hadn’t taken. Elon Musk, owner of X, announced support for Carano’s lawsuit, inviting others who felt wronged by Disney to join.
