Luka Modrić Joins AC Milan on Free Transfer After Illustrious Real Madrid Career
Veteran midfielder Luka Modrić has officially completed his move to AC Milan as a free agent, marking the end of a legendary chapter at Real Madrid and the beginning of a new challenge in Serie A.
The Rossoneri confirmed the signing via an official statement on their website on Monday, July 14, 2025, announcing that the 39-year-old Croatian international has signed a one-year contract, which will keep him at San Siro until June 30, 2026, with the option to extend for an additional year until June 30, 2027.
“AC Milan is delighted to announce that Luka Modrić has signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2026, with an option for a one-year extension until 30 June 2027,” the club’s statement read.
A Career Full of Glory
Modrić arrives in Milan as one of the most accomplished footballers of his generation. After joining Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, he spent 13 seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu, becoming the most decorated player in the club’s history.
