Transfer Update: Galatasaray Step Up Pursuit of Man City Goalkeeper Éderson

As the 2025/2026 Premier League season gets underway, speculation over the future of Manchester City’s first-choice goalkeeper Éderson Moraes continues to gather pace, with talks now ongoing between City and Turkish champions Galatasaray.

Rumours of a possible move for PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma earlier this summer had already raised questions about City’s goalkeeping plans. Those questions deepened after Éderson was left out of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the opening match of the new campaign, fuelling suggestions that an exit could be imminent.

Reports indicate that Galatasaray have submitted an opening bid worth around €10 million, but Manchester City have made their stance clear: they value the Brazilian at closer to €25 million. The difference in valuation remains the biggest obstacle, although both clubs are said to be working towards finding a compromise.

Éderson himself is understood to be keen on the move, viewing a switch to Istanbul as an exciting new chapter where he would remain the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper while continuing to compete at the highest level in the UEFA Champions League.

For Manchester City, the decision is a delicate one. Éderson, now 31 years old, has been a cornerstone of Guardiola’s dominant era, redefining the role of the modern goalkeeper with his shot-stopping ability, pinpoint distribution, and even assists that turned defence into attack. His potential departure would not only leave a major void but also mark the end of an era at the Etihad.

Galatasaray, however, remain determined. The Turkish giants, who are looking to strengthen their squad for another domestic and European push, are reportedly preparing an improved offer to bring negotiations closer to City’s valuation.

At present, Galatasaray appear to be the only serious contenders for Éderson’s signature, but with the transfer window still open, the situation could evolve quickly. Should a deal be struck, it would represent one of the most high-profile goalkeeper moves of the summer and signal the start of a new chapter for both player and club.
