‘We’re Completely Devastated’ – Music band, One Direction break silence after Liam Payne‘s death
Music band, One direction on Thursday night, October 17 shared a joint statement to Instagram revealing they are “completely devastated” following Liam Payne’s death at 31 on Wednesday, Oct. 16
The surviving Group members Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson shared a joint statement on Instagram that said they are processing “the loss of our brother.”
“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” it began. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”
The statement continued: “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam. Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry.”
Made up of Styles, Malik, Tomlinson, Horan and Payne, One Direction was put together by Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger during season 7 of X Factor U.K. While the group didn’t win their season, they went on to become one of the biggest boy bands in the world, dominating the culture of the early 2010s.
On Wednesday, October 16, Payne was pronounced dead after falling multiple stories at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to a preliminary autopsy report, Payne died from multiple injuries and “internal and external” hemorrhages after falling from his hotel balcony.
