The jersey number for Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen at his new club, Galatasaray, has reportedly been revealed by sources close to the Nigerian star.

Nigerian sports journalist Buchi Laba, who has consistently provided updates on Osimhen, confirmed on his official X account on Tuesday, September 4, 2024, that the forward will wear the number 45 jersey at Galatasaray. Laba explained that Osimhen chose this number because it was his lucky number during his time at the Belgian club Charleroi.

The transfer deal is expected to be finalized by all parties involved by the end of today, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, before Osimhen departs for Nigeria to prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic.

Victor Osimhen has agreed to join Galatasaray following two unsuccessful transfer attempts to Al Ahli and Chelsea. Reports indicate that the Nigerian international will soon meet with Galatasaray to undergo medical examinations and finalize his departure from Napoli.

Sky Sports Italia has confirmed that Galatasaray’s pursuit of a new striker was driven by the injury to Mauro Icardi, who may be sidelined for an extended period. Additionally, the club is considering the possibility of deploying two strikers upfront once Icardi returns from his injury.
