Jax Taylor, known for his roles on Vanderpump Rules and The Valley, has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The 45-year-old reality star revealed his diagnosis in an Instagram post, sharing that he had been struggling with an unknown issue for years before seeking help. “I was scared of the unknown when I checked myself into an intensive inpatient treatment facility last month,” Taylor wrote. “

After many years of sensing something was wrong but not knowing what, I have recently learned that I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. It’s been a lot to process and an emotional time for me.”

He expressed that while he is still apprehensive about the future, he feels a renewed sense of peace after returning home to his son. Taylor added, “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared for the future, but my focus now is on striving to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday.”

Taylor described mental health as a “lifelong battle of not letting it control you, but rather learning to control it.”

Bipolar disorder is marked by severe mood swings, while PTSD results from distressing events, according to the NHS. Taylor expressed gratitude in his post: “Thank you to everyone who has reached out in support and shared their own personal struggles with me. Your messages have helped me more than you know.”

This news follows the recent report that his fellow reality star and wife, Brittany Cartwright, has filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple gained fame on Vanderpump Rules, appeared on the spin-off Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky, and most recently starred in The Valley. They were married in 2019 and have a three-year-old son, Cruz.
