South African music sensation Tyla is once again making international headlines—this time as the first African artist to host the iconic Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

The groundbreaking news has set social media abuzz, with fans and fellow celebrities flooding platforms with congratulatory messages, celebrating Tyla as a powerful role model for young Africans across the globe.

Adding to the buzz surrounding her Nickelodeon milestone, Tyla has secured yet another major accomplishment. The Water hitmaker has been revealed as one of the featured artists on the upcoming Smurfs movie soundtrack, joining a stellar lineup that includes Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Desi Trill, Natania, and Subhi.

Since signing with U.S.-based Epic Records in 2021, Tyla has been carving out her space in the global music industry. Her profile soared after joining Chris Brown’s European tour in 2023 and receiving co-signs from international stars like Travis Scott and Marshmello, who remixed her breakout track Water.

Tyla has also hinted at her highly anticipated debut album, promising a fresh blend of sounds that will continue to spotlight African music on the global stage.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, hosted by Tyla, will air live on June 21, 2025, at 8 p.m. EDT from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Fans can vote for their favorite stars across 35 categories at KidsChoiceAwards.com. Top nominees this year include Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar.

While the full list of performers and celebrity guests for the night remains under wraps, anticipation continues to build for what promises to be a star-studded celebration.
