Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has officially joined Galatasaray on a loan deal after Napoli and the player reached an agreement late Monday night.

Although his move to Chelsea fell through, Osimhen, 25, found an opportunity to leave Napoli, with the Turkish transfer window open until September 13.

On September 2, Osimhen signed a one-year loan contract with Galatasaray. The deal does not include a buy-back clause, and Galatasaray will cover his full salary during the loan period. His release clause has been set at €75 million, with Napoli holding an option to extend the contract until 2027.

Following his signing, Osimhen flew to Turkey and was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic fans at the stadium.

This transfer comes after a disappointing end to his attempts to move to Chelsea and Al Ahli. Napoli had initially agreed to a €70 million plus €10 million bonus deal with Al Ahli, offering Osimhen a lucrative €40 million annual salary and an affordable release clause for a potential future return to Europe.

However, Napoli’s request for an additional €5 million frustrated the Saudi club, leading them to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford instead.

Chelsea, meanwhile, chose to sign Jadon Sancho, as they were unable to meet the high costs associated with Osimhen’s transfer.
