Train Star Charlie Colin Dies at 58 in Shower Accident
Train Star Charlie Colin Dies at 58 in Shower Accident – Musician Charlie Colin, a founding member of the band Train, has sadly passed away at the age of 58 following a tragic accident, his mother confirmed. Charlie Colin, the former bass player for Train, died after a fatal accident.
Colin’s mother told TMZ that he slipped and fell in the shower while house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium. Colin, one of the founding members of the 1990s band, had moved to Brussels, where he was teaching a music master class and working on a film soundtrack.
He co-founded the San Francisco band in 1993 with Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Scott Underwood, and Jimmy Stafford.
Train won two Grammy Awards in 2002 for their hit “Drops of Jupiter.” The bassist left the band in 2003 after reportedly being given an ultimatum due to his struggle with substance @buse.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times about his time with the band, Colin said, “I had a really great run, but it was difficult.”
During an appearance on Delphine’s Circle, Colin elaborated: “A lot of things led to me leaving, but it really escalated. We never took a break. We drove our tour bus into the parking lot of the recording studio for our second and third records.
“In Philadelphia, we made our one-and-a-half record… We just never stopped. It’s one of those things where you feel like this is too good to be true. Most bands have a lifespan of a few years.”
Lead singer Pat Monahan commented on Colin’s departure, saying, “Charlie is an incredible bass player, but he was in a lot of pain, and the way he was dealing with it was very painful for everyone else around him.”
Train continues to make music today, having sold over 10 million albums and 30 million tracks worldwide. Their most recent album, AM Gold, was released in May 2022, according to the Daily Star.
