Tiwa Savage Reflects on Painful Past Relationship, Opens Up About Emotional Struggles with Celebrity Partner

Nigerian music powerhouse, Tiwa Savage, has opened up about a painful chapter in her romantic life, candidly sharing details of a past relationship with a fellow celebrity that left her feeling silenced and disrespected.

In a recent interview, the Somebody’s Son crooner revealed that the relationship was emotionally draining because her partner insisted that their romance be kept a secret. According to Tiwa, he claimed that going public would interfere with his ability to “work the room” at social events and maintain his image.

“He told me he didn’t want us to go public. He said, ‘When we’re out, I might be talking to other people, but I’m only doing it so people don’t suspect,’” Tiwa recalled.

Although she initially tried to accept his explanation, the reality was far more painful. The award-winning singer described how she often accompanied him to events, only to watch him openly flirt and mingle with other women, leaving her to endure the humiliation in silence while he reassured her with subtle looks from across the room.

“I couldn’t say anything. It was happening right in front of me,” she admitted, reflecting on how the relationship gradually eroded her sense of respect and emotional well-being. Eventually, Tiwa decided to walk away, choosing her peace and dignity over the secrecy and hurt.

Her revelation sheds light on the emotional toll that public figures face when trying to balance love, privacy, and the pressures of fame.

On a brighter note, Tiwa Savage is turning the page with major career milestones. She recently released her highly anticipated album This One Is Personal on August 29, a 13-track project described as her most heartfelt and introspective body of work since 2020. The album delves into themes of pain, healing, self-discovery, and growth, reflecting the star’s personal journey.

Beyond her music, Tiwa has also been vocal about rejecting the singular crown of “Queen of Afrobeats,” stressing that numerous other female artists are equally deserving of recognition for their contributions to the genre.
