Once again, Nigerian music sensation Tems is taking the lead in reshaping the narrative for women in African music, as she launches a bold new initiative aimed at empowering female creatives across the continent.

On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the award-winning singer and songwriter unveiled her groundbreaking project, Leading Vibe Initiative, via social media. The platform is designed to support, connect, and amplify the voices of women working in all areas of the music industry—from vocalists and songwriters to producers, engineers, and managers.

In her announcement, Tems expressed deep pride in the mission of the initiative, describing it as a dedicated space for fostering collaboration, personal growth, and lasting industry change. “I’m so proud to launch @leadingvibeinit,” she wrote on her official social media pages. “A platform to support, connect & amplify women in music across Africa.”

The Leading Vibe Initiative is scheduled to kick off its inaugural program this August in Lagos, Nigeria. Open to applicants nationwide, the initiative invites women in any facet of music to apply and become part of a dynamic community geared toward mutual empowerment and artistic development.

More than just a career-building opportunity, the initiative embodies Tems’ unwavering commitment to challenging the male-dominated norms of the music industry and carving out space for more African women to flourish. Her global acclaim and reputation for authenticity have positioned her as both a musical powerhouse and a voice for progressive change.

Applications for the Lagos program are now being accepted through the official website, leadingvibe.com, with the deadline set for July 13, 2025.
