Supporters of the Canadian icon were perplexed by Taylor’s behavior when she accepted the Album of the Year award from Celine. Some fans thought Taylor appeared oblivious to the significance of the moment.
On X/Twitter, one fan expressed their discomfort, saying, “Taylor Swift just took the album of the year trophy from Celine Dion without batting an eye and/or acknowledging that a legendary GOAT was handing her the award. So cringey for my soul.” GOAT stands for ‘Greatest Of All Time.’
This event took place during one of Celine’s rare public appearances since her 2022 diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome, a progressive neurological disorder affecting her walking and singing abilities.
Another disappointed fan shared, “My biggest disappointment of the Grammys was Taylor Swift winning Album of the year and hugging all of her people but taking the trophy from Celine Dion as if she was the hat-check girl, and not seeming to realize how very amazing it was that Celine was standing there at all.” However, later on, the two were seen arm in arm backstage.
