Super Eagles to face Jordan in friendly amid World Cup uncertainty

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to face Jordan national football team in an international friendly scheduled to take place in Amman this March, according to emerging reports.

The encounter is expected to form a key part of Jordan’s preparations as they build momentum toward the FIFA World Cup, with the Middle Eastern side keen to test themselves against strong African opposition. Playing Nigeria offers Jordan a valuable opportunity to assess their tactical readiness and squad depth ahead of the global showpiece.

However, Nigeria’s participation in the friendly is not yet fully guaranteed. The Super Eagles are currently awaiting an impending decision from FIFA regarding their eligibility protest involving the Democratic Republic of Congo national football team. The outcome of that ruling could influence Nigeria’s international schedule for the March window.

In addition to the proposed clash with Jordan, the West Africans are also reportedly in discussions with Iran over another friendly match during the same international break. Securing two high-profile friendlies would provide head coach and his technical crew with a broader opportunity to evaluate players and fine-tune strategies.

For Jordan, the March friendly holds significant importance. Under the guidance of head coach Jamal Sellami, the team is preparing for what is being described as a historic World Cup outing. Sellami’s side has been drawn into a challenging group that includes reigning champions Argentina national football team, alongside Algeria national football team and Austria national football team.

With both nations aiming to sharpen their competitive edge, the proposed friendly in Amman promises to be a high-intensity contest that could offer valuable insights ahead of crucial international commitments later in the year.
