Streamer IShowSpeed gets into ‘argument’ in Lagos as gallery guide insists he’s Yoruba, while he claims he may be Igbo
Popular streamer IShowSpeed was involved in a light-hearted exchange at Nike Gallery in Lagos after a guide insisted he was Yoruba, despite the American internet personality suggesting he might be Igbo.
During the encounter, the gallery guide, identified as Allyson-Aina Davies, invited the streamer to dance and claimed his movements reflected Yoruba heritage. “Come and have one more dance with us to see your true authentic Yoruba self. I think you’re a Yoruba guy,” she said.
When Speed questioned the claim, asking, “You think I’m Yoruba?”, the guide responded, “Absolutely.” Speed then pushed back, saying, “What if I’m Igbo though,” but she dismissed the suggestion, replying, “No I think you’ve got the Yoruba style.”
The exchange continued as Speed joked, “what if I’m igbo,” to which the guide replied that he should take an ancestry test and be given a traditional name, saying, “No, you have to do an ancestry, we’ve got to give you a name.”
The moment captured on video, quickly circulated online.
