Steven Gerrard Endorses Liverpool Transfer Target as ‘Top Level – Liverpool’s potential acquisition of Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey has already received the seal of approval from former captain Steven Gerrard.

This summer promises to be eventful at Anfield, as Arne Slot has been confirmed as Jürgen Klopp’s successor.

Slot will take on the role of head coach, implying that he won’t have full autonomy over transfer decisions. Instead, he will collaborate with the newly appointed sporting director Richard Hughes, who is set to begin his tenure next month.

While Liverpool is expected to prioritize strengthening their defense following Joël Matip’s departure, The Telegraph reports that Ramsey has garnered significant interest from those at Anfield.

Tottenham and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in Jacob Ramsey, as Aston Villa aims to comply with Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules. Unai Emery’s squad will need to make sales this summer before bolstering their roster for their first Champions League campaign.

Ramsey impressed during Steven Gerrard’s tenure at Villa Park, earning high praise from the Liverpool legend in 2022 amidst calls for his first senior England call-up.

Gerrard remarked, “I want him to make his own headlines with his football. He is a top talent. I know the level of the England players, having been around it, and it’s only a matter of time. I’m loving every moment of working with him.

He is getting stronger with each game because we’re giving him the platform to express himself. He is in a wonderful place and will be a terrific player. It won’t be long before the whole country is watching him, I’m sure. He is right up there, let me tell you.”

Jacob Ramsey has faced a challenging season with injuries under Unai Emery, sidelined since March due to a foot injury, and limited to just eight Premier League starts.

Despite the interest from several top clubs, Ramsey reportedly has no intention of leaving his boyhood club, Aston Villa, this summer.

Villa is only expected to consider a transfer if they are unable to sell other players to meet financial regulations.
