Steve Wright's brother claims BBC DJ hid health issues in cause of death discussion

Steve Wright’s brother claims BBC DJ hid health issues in cause of death discussion – Laurence Wright, the younger brother of the late BBC DJ Steve Wright, has provided insights into his sibling’s sudden passing this week.

The veteran broadcaster, known for presenting “Steve Wright in the Afternoon” and hosting “Top of the Pops,” passed away at the age of 69, with emergency services discovering him at his London home following an “incident.” While authorities deem the death unexpected, it is not being treated as suspicious.

Addressing speculations that Steve may have died of a “broken heart” after being removed from his BBC Radio 2 show in 2022, Laurence has now broken his silence.

He attributes Steve’s demise to a combination of a poor diet, his inclination to dine out frequently, and a reluctance to address health issues openly.

Laurence, a director in the health industry, emphasized Steve’s awareness of the need for better self-care, stating, “It’s like anyone who doesn’t look after themselves over an extended period.”

Describing his late brother as a stoic individual who kept family members uninformed about his health struggles, Laurence mentioned Steve’s reticence regarding topics such as diet, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress.

Despite acknowledging that Steve could have taken better care of himself, Laurence dispelled the notion that his death was linked to a broken heart, asserting that, if anything, Steve welcomed the respite after parting ways with his BBC Radio 2 afternoon slot.
