Stephen and Daniel from Gogglebox announce divorce
Stephen and Daniel from Gogglebox announce divorce– Stephen and Daniel, who worked as hairdressers, were famous on Gogglebox for their affection for their three poodles – Babs, Princess, and Betsy – and Stephen’s dedication to improving his physique.
After six years of marriage, one of the show’s veteran sofa critics has revealed their divorce.
Stephen Lustig-Webb and his spouse Daniel had been part of the popular Channel 4 show since 2019. However, they made the decision to leave the program last year, expressing their desire to pursue different ventures.
The couple, who co-own a hairdressing salon, got engaged in 2016 and tied the knot in 2018.
Stephen confirmed their separation over the weekend but emphasized their intention to maintain a strong friendship.
In a display of their amicable split, Daniel shared a brief video on Instagram featuring them joyfully riding a tandem bike around Brighton, their hometown. Accompanied by the upbeat song “Good Life” by Inner City, Daniel added a lighthearted caption: “Riding tandem straight out of this marriage #beryl #bff”.
Over the weekend, Stephen spoke to The Sun and shared, “It’s with much sadness that Daniel and I have decided to divorce. There’s always been a lot of love between us, but unfortunately, we’ve drifted apart and have made the tough choice to go our separate ways.
It’s a decision we’ve made with heavy hearts to acknowledge that our marriage has reached its end. Despite this, I’m confident that we’ll always remain friends.”
On the same outing, Stephen shared a selfie on his Instagram feed featuring himself, Daniel, and another family member. In the caption, he wrote, “Had a wonderful time celebrating @lustigellie’s birthday.”
Stephen has been a fixture on Gogglebox since its inception in 2013, initially appearing alongside his former partner Christopher Steed as one of the original stars of the show.
After parting ways with Christopher in 2017, Stephen’s former partner left the show, and from series 10 to 12, Stephen’s mother, Pat Webb, stepped in to fill the spot.
Affectionately known as “Mummy Pat,” she sadly passed away earlier this year after battling a long illness.
Daniel became a part of the show in series 13 in 2019, joining the ranks of Gogglebox regulars like married couple Giles and Mary Killen from Wiltshire, sisters Izzy and Ellie Warner from Leeds, and the Siddiqui family from Derby.
Stephen and Daniel gained fame on Gogglebox for their adoration of their three poodles – Babs, Princess, and Betsy – as well as Stephen’s dedication to staying fit.
Unfortunately, in October last year, Lustig-Webb had to withdraw from ITV’s Dancing On Ice due to an ankle injury sustained during training.
Gogglebox, a program where families and friends share their opinions on the week’s television, has been on the air for 22 years. It’s received prestigious awards like the BAFTA and multiple National Television Awards. The show’s success has even led to spin-off series featuring celebrities, as well as versions with children and teenagers.
Earlier this month, fans were shocked by the tragic news of another former Gogglebox star, George Gilbey, who passed away after falling through a plastic skylight while at work.
Stephen Lustig-Webb and Daniel captured the hearts of viewers as a dynamic duo on the popular TV show Gogglebox. Known for their charming personalities and genuine chemistry, the couple became fan favorites for their witty commentary and endearing moments shared on screen.
Their love story began with a shared passion for hairdressing, as they both co-owned a successful salon together. In 2016, they took the next step in their relationship by getting engaged, and they exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony in 2018.
Their partnership extended beyond their professional and personal lives, as they navigated the ups and downs of fame together.
Despite their public persona, Stephen and Daniel experienced challenges like any other couple. In 2017, they announced their decision to part ways, marking the end of their romantic relationship. However, their bond remained strong, and they continued to support each other through life’s trials and triumphs.
Throughout their time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel shared many memorable moments with viewers. From their affection for their beloved poodles to Stephen’s dedication to physical fitness, their authenticity resonated with audiences around the world.
Even after leaving the show in 2020 to explore new opportunities, their impact on Gogglebox and its fans remained undeniable.
Beyond their television appearances, Stephen and Daniel faced personal tragedies, including the loss of Stephen’s mother, Pat Webb, earlier this year. Despite the challenges they encountered, they remained resilient, leaning on each other for support and strength.
Their journey serves as a testament to the power of love, friendship, and resilience. As they embark on new chapters in their lives, Stephen and Daniel continue to inspire others with their unwavering bond and positive outlook on life.
