Singer Lizzo speaks out after fat-shaming claims is dropped in legal fight with former dancers

Lizzo has reacted publicly after a key part of the lawsuit filed against her by former dancers was dismissed, making it clear she intends to contest every remaining allegation until the case is fully resolved.

In a silent Instagram video shared on Monday, December 15, the singer addressed the development through on screen text, stating that the fat shaming claims central to the sexual harassment lawsuit had been thrown out because they lacked merit. The lawsuit was filed by Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez and Crystal Williams.

According to Lizzo, the court removed the fat shaming allegations after finding no evidence to support claims that anyone was dismissed due to weight gain. She said the dancers were let go for secretly recording her without permission and later sharing the footage with former employees.

The Grammy winner said the accusations have weighed heavily on her since they surfaced in 2023, stressing that she has consistently celebrated and promoted body positivity throughout her career. She added that she trusted her legal team to handle the matter and believes the dismissal confirms she is on the right path, expressing hope that the rest of the case will be resolved in a similar way.

Last week, Lizzo’s lawyer, Marty Singer, alongside his partner Melissa Y Glass, said the dropped claims were undermined by sworn statements from 18 witnesses. According to them, the strength of that evidence led the former dancers to abandon their appeal over the dismissed fat shaming allegations.
