Serial paedophile to be physically and chemically castrated after trying to r@pe seven-year-old girl

A convicted serial paedophile in Louisiana, USA, is set to undergo both physical and chemical castration after pleading guilty to s3xually assaulting a seven-year-old girl.

The offender, Thomas Allen McCartney, 37, has been described by authorities as one of the most dangerous child predators in the state. He accepted the unprecedented punishment on Tuesday, August 19, as part of a plea agreement aimed at reducing his potential prison term. Despite the deal, McCartney will still serve 40 years in prison, according to local outlet Fox 12.

Louisiana remains the only state in the United States that permits surgical castration as a penalty for sex crimes, although it has allowed chemical castration since 2008.

The newly passed legislation authorizing physical castration only came into effect in August 2025, making McCartney’s case one of the first applications of the law.

McCartney’s crimes date back nearly two decades. He was most recently arrested in 2023 after a mother caught him in the act of s3xually abusing her seven-year-old daughter. In an attempt to evade capture, he brandished a firearm and fled, but was eventually apprehended in Houston, Texas.

On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree r@pe of a child under 13, which carries severe mandatory penalties under Louisiana law.

Vernon Parish District Attorney Terry Lambright condemned McCartney’s actions, stating:

“This is a horrific crime that never should have happened. Thomas McCartney is a predator that needs to be locked away from others in our community.”

Court records reveal that McCartney has a long and disturbing history of s3xual vio1ence:

  • In 2006, he was arrested on one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

  • In 2010, he was detained on two counts of aggravated r@pe of a 12-year-old.

  • In 2011, he was convicted of attempted aggravated rape and classified as a Tier 3 s3x offender, the most serious designation.

Authorities say his latest conviction underscores his continued threat to children and society. With both physical and chemical castration imposed alongside a lengthy prison sentence, prosecutors hope this case will serve as a precedent under Louisiana’s toughened laws on s3x crimes.
