S3xual battery lawsuit against Diddy dismissed by judge
Sean “Diddy” Combs has secured a legal victory in one of several civil lawsuits filed against him, even as he awaits sentencing in his federal criminal case.
A New York judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by a man who accused the music mogul of drugging and s3xually assaulting him at a Los Angeles nightclub in 2015.
The plaintiff, who filed under the name John Doe in February, claimed he was a 23-year-old aspiring artist when he attended the event.
He alleged that after being given a drink, he lost consciousness and later woke up to find Combs engaging in unwanted s3xual contact. The suit, filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, also alleged that Combs threatened to derail Doe’s career if he resisted.
The judge ruled that the case could not proceed because the statute of limitations had expired. According to the decision, the law in place at the time allowed a five-year window for such claims. Although New York extended the statute to 20 years in 2019, the court noted that the change was not retroactive and did not apply to this case.
Claims filed against Combs’ companies, including Bad Boy Entertainment and Combs Enterprises, were also dismissed.
The ruling adds to a series of recent dismissals in civil suits against Combs. However, he continues to face numerous active cases. His sentencing in the federal matter is scheduled for October 3.
