R. Kelly Submits Urgent Legal Request Citing Safety Threats Behind Bars
R&B Star R. Kelly Seeks Emergency Prison Release Amid Alleged Murder Plot
R&B singer R. Kelly is urgently pursuing release from federal prison following alarming claims of a murder-for-hire scheme targeting him from within the facility.
His attorneys have filed an emergency motion, citing what they describe as credible and imminent threats to his life. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence for sex-related offenses at a federal prison in North Carolina.
According to court filings obtained by TMZ, Mikeal Glenn Stine—a terminally ill inmate and alleged high-ranking member of the Aryan Brotherhood—has accused prison officials of orchestrating a plot to have Kelly killed. Stine claims he was approached with an offer of early release or leniency in exchange for assassinating the singer, with plans to make the killing appear accidental.
Stine reportedly alerted Kelly to the plot in March and has since come forward with his story, offering to take a polygraph test and testify under oath. Since exposing the scheme, he and Kelly are said to be under heightened threat, as prison gang members have allegedly reassigned the task of killing them to another inmate.
Kelly’s legal team says this has intensified the urgency of their safety concerns, given that several affiliates of the Aryan Brotherhood are still incarcerated at the same facility.
In addition to the emergency motion, Kelly has filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court, requesting a review of his case and consideration for home confinement.
His legal team argues that the current threats to his life are immediate and severe, and that his release is necessary not only for his protection but also so he can continue working on creative projects. They maintain that continued incarceration under these conditions constitutes cruel and unusual punishment and demands swift judicial intervention.
