President Macron and wife head to court with proof after Candace Owens claims Brigitte was born male
French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, are taking their defamation battle to court — and this time, they’re prepared to present scientific evidence to shut down rumors spread by American commentator Candace Owens.
The Macrons sued Owens in July in a Delaware court after she repeatedly claimed that Brigitte was born male, stole another person’s identity, and even accused the couple of being blood relatives. Owens also tied the French president to bizarre CIA mind-control conspiracies.
Their lawyer, Tom Clare, said on a podcast that Brigitte is ready to undergo “uncomfortable but necessary” steps in court to prove the allegations false. “She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight,” he said.
Owens, however, has doubled down, insisting Brigitte “is definitely a man” and describing the lawsuit as politically motivated. Her lawyers are pushing for the case to be dismissed, arguing free speech protections.
This isn’t the first time the Macrons have fought such rumors. In 2024, they won a defamation case in France against bloggers who pushed similar claims, but the ruling was later overturned on appeal.
No court date has been fixed yet for the U.S. case.
