Portable raises alarm after alleged attack during Ikorodu performance
Nigerian street-hop sensation Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, is once again in the spotlight—this time over a chilling incident he claims occurred during a live performance in Ikorodu, Lagos.
In a viral video circulating on social media, the Zazoo crooner alleged that an unidentified individual attempted to inject him while he was performing on stage. Known for his high-energy performances and outspoken nature, Portable described the experience as traumatic and likened it to the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of fellow artist, Mohbad.
“I went to perform in Ikorodu and they injected me. They want to kill me like they did to Mohbad,” he said in the clip posted on his Instagram page.
According to Portable, a man allegedly emerged from the crowd and tried to stab him with a syringe. Reacting swiftly, the singer said he struck the person with his microphone to defend himself.
The situation quickly turned chaotic as the crowd surged toward the stage, causing confusion and concern. Though no physical altercation broke out, Portable said the commotion left him injured. “We didn’t fight at the show. It was just chaos. In the process of trying to embrace me, they hit my leg,” he explained, showing a visibly swollen leg in the video.
Clearly shaken, Portable hinted that the attack may have been a targeted attempt by individuals wishing him harm. The incident has raised alarm among fans, with many urging for improved security measures at public events to protect performers.
As of now, neither the event organizers nor law enforcement agencies have released an official statement regarding the alleged incident.
