The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed reports circulating online that Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has been declared wanted by the authorities.

In a statement released via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Force described the viral notice as “false, misleading, and not issued by the Police.”

The purported “wanted notice,” which carried Iyabo Ojo’s photograph and the inscription “SPECIAL POLICE WANTED”, made the rounds on social media platforms between Tuesday and Wednesday, quickly sparking mixed reactions from Nigerians. Many users expressed shock, while others questioned the authenticity of the announcement.

Addressing the situation on Thursday morning, the NPF urged the public to disregard the claim and warned against the spread of misinformation.

“Clarification on Police Gazette Bulletin of Wanted Person
The Nigeria Police Force wishes to clarify that the recent Wanted Person Bulletin circulating, which states that Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo is wanted by the Office of the IGP Monitoring Unit, is NOT an official communication from the Force.

The Nigeria Police Force urges members of the public to verify information through official channels and be cautious of misinformation,” the statement read.

The police further emphasized the importance of relying solely on official communication channels for verified information, cautioning the public against the dangers of fake news.

Iyabo Ojo, a prominent Nollywood actress, film producer, and entrepreneur, has not responded publicly to the viral report at the time of this clarification.
